Millfield Science Show Trip Wednesday 13th March

Draconis had an incredible trip to Millfield Senior School for a Physics Science Show on Liquid Nitrogen for Science Week. During the show, the class saw some fascinating demonstrations and took part in some awesome experiments.

These included, looking at the effects of liquid nitrogen on a range of materials (banana, tomatoes, tennis balls, rubber hosing), as well as members of our class being able to crush frozen daffodils and have liquid nitrogen poured onto their hands to show the Leidenfrost Effect.

At the end of the show, the children were able to watch some ice cream being made with the liquid nitrogen and even try some, whilst going outside to see the effects of containing evaporating liquid nitrogen in a closed plastic bottle – which was explosive!
