In Science, Draconis have been continuing to demonstrate their super, scientific skills in our Changing Materials unit. Throughout the unit, the children have been taking part in fascinating experiments, exploring how to recover a solute from a solution, and exploring reversible (physical) and irreversible (chemical) changes, including melting chocolate, separating mixtures, rusting and combustion. They have also experimented with and observed chemical reactions that took place when mixing two liquids or a solvent and solute, i.e. bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, and milk and vinegar. We are excited to continue to investigate the materials around us in our upcoming unit of Properties of Materials.
