We have some fantastic maths going on in Pegasus class at the moment. One group is learning all about how to subtract mentally, using jottings. They learnt that they could split the subtrahend into two parts. First they subtracted to ‘reach 10’ before subtracting the second part. They have also been learning their times tables. Focussing on the 2,5 and 10x tables they have learnt and how they can add and subtract from adjacent number facts to find missing facts e.g. 7×5= 6×5+5

The other maths group have been learning all about fractions. They have been using terms such as equal, unequal, unit fraction, numerator and denominator.
