This half term we have been exploring a range of different artists from different cultures. and then creating our own expressive compositions.

We have focussed on two artists; Marela Zacarias and Charlie French. We created visual notes after watching videos and looking at examples of their work and then explored using pastels to create our own pieces. We thought carefully about the colours and shapes that they used and the tools we could use to create effects.

We have also enjoyed focusing on expressive painting and colour mixing. We used lots of tools to create different marks in the paint and choose aspects of these to put into our sketch books

Finally we have created a still life by choosing objects in the classroom. We did a continuous line drawing and created a collage of this. We will develop this idea further to create an abstract painting in the coming weeks.
